Regarding post #2, "The Bridge" is available on 4 discs through Netflix. I have been looking for it since you made the recommendation. So far it has been excellent.
Agree that Broadchurch is excellent. Hope we get a second season available on Netflix. Thanks for the tip on "The Bridge". I assume you are writing about the Swedish production?
I'm just watching "broadchurch" in these weeks, it's broadcasted by an italian mystery channel of the sky platform. and I've already watched "the bridge", both version, the original and the american remake. I agree, they are very nice.
another interesting series is the french "les revenants". it's a strange story. very well done.

I am watching "Les Revenants", thanks for the tip. I am also watching another French series, "Witnesses". It is excellent. Both can be streamed on Netflix. The French talk fast. I need to go back frequently, I guess I do not read fast enough.
Stephen, I just watched Clean Spirit the other night and really liked it. I follow cycling closely. Jon Degenkolb, featured in Clean Spirit has had a fantastic 2015, winning several big spring Classics races, including Milan-San Remo, Tour of Flanders and the premier Spring Classic, Paris-Roubaix. Great to see a young and talented team with so much energy, trying to shed the tarnished drug weight of the Armstrong/Ulrich/Pantani era.
I am currently watching "The Bridge" and waiting on disc 4 of season 1. Really enjoying it.
"Dark City" is a science fiction film from 1998. It was mostly filmed in Australia. This is not the first time I have watched Dark City. It is the first time I watched the director's cut, an extra 11 minutes. Much better with the added 11 minutes and it was already great in my opinion. I watched a disc from Netflix.
"Diplomacy" a film by German film maker Volker Schlondorff tells the story of how Paris was saved at the end of World War 2. I streamed this on Netflix. Subtitled. In theaters in 2014.
Longmire is a series that can be streamed on Netflix. 3 Seasons. Modern day western, beautifully shot in New Mexico even though supposedly taking place in Wyoming. Very enjoyable weaving of short stories with a long term theme of a small town sheriff looking for his wife's killer. Some mystical undertones too.
+1 on "Rising from ashes". It is available on discs at Netflix. I streamed it through the computer, not through the normal Netflix (Roku) streaming. Some movies you can do this with.
another nice british crime series: whitechapel. now I'm watching the third season, I've already watched the first, but missed the second season, I hope to find it in streaming somewhere.

"My Italian Secret: The Forgotten Heroes" is a documentary of Italian cycling champion Gino Bartali and the Italian resistance during WW2. I streamed from Netflix.
"Citizenfour" is an Academy Award winning documentary by Laura Poitras. It is about Glenn Greenwald, Laura Poitras and Edward Snowden and their story on the NSA spy scandal. It has been recently released on disc from Netflix.
Anyone who has enjoyed 'The West Wing' as much as I have: Aaron Sorkin was the producer (and it's my fav TV-Series of all times) and I thoroughly love 'Studia 60 at the Sunset strip' which was produced by him too. What a shame the series was canceled after just one series, it should have gotten at least 10.
The documentary film "What happened, Miss Simone" is up for an Academy Award in best documentary. It is about singer Nina Simone. It is directed by Liz Garbus. I streamed it on Netflix.
"Meru" is brilliant. This is probably the best mountaineering movie I have seen, and I have seen a lot. I steamed off of Amazon. Telemark Tumalo, you must check this out.
