Today we have a 1958 Porsche Speedster, with a 1971 engine and a non-stock paint job. Then I saw a Ferrari Dino 308GT. Finally, my favorite, an AMC Pacer. Not shown is the CHP cruiser that was escorting it in front of the Pacer as it headed south up Skyline Boulevard. I assume that escort was for the protection of the other vehicles on the road. Shortly after that drive-by, the Skylonda Fire Brigade rolled out Code 3, followed by a Sheriff's car, with lights and siren on. I think the Pacer may have caused an accident as a passing driver died from laughing. Photos attached.

Remember the Pacer in the '77 movie, "Oh God",(George Burns/ John Denver)? Funny car then, still now apparently. Google tells me Pacers have featured in some 40-odd movies since!Love the Porker, not just 'cos it's black, like mine, but not so keen on the 308 Dino. At least they are almost affordable Ferrari ownership, whereas an original Dino (yum) can bring 1/3 mil these days!

Cannot look at a Pacer without thinking of the movie, Wayne's World. A waitress in my father's restaurant had one when I was a kid. She took us for a ride and I just recall it being the weirdest thing in terms of proportions - and a lot of glass!!

As I was riding up from the coast toward Alice's Restaurant yesterday morning, I saw the Pacer coming down the hill on a flat-bed truck. I assume it must have been used in a scary movie this weekend and was now being returned to its hiding location waiting for the next time it will star on the big screen. It is a mystery to me why those things are so popular with screen writers that they feel the need to continually expose them to the public.

Some sightings at Van Sant Airport today. Must have been 50 Cobras and 25 Corvettes. Such a cool place... never know what you will encounter on weekends.

Today at Alice's Restaurant it was cool, foggy, drizzly and damp. Perfect weather for the Mini crowd to come out into the open. Unfortunately, one Mini was making funny noises in the engine bay and that took a lot of people to inspect. When I left an hour later, the Mini was still there. Probably waiting to dry out. Mini photos attached.

And there was one British Love Bug Mini in attendance, too.

Neither had I. I have seen a number of the neat 3-cylinder two-stroke Saab Sonnets (?), dating around the 1960's, over the years, but that 1997 model was a new one to me.

I thought the same Devon, although the 'FX' was never made as such, it was a 48-215 and the FJ followed. Being Ozzy an all, we assumed and abbreviated the 48-215 moniker to F something (X)

Not sure if the last one would be easily registered....

Here is an interesting car. A 1957 Chevy Bel Air "150" convertible, which I am told is a pretty rare model, as it was a very expensive option at the time.

Next to it was a late 1960's-era Pontiac GTO, trying to pretend it is a Ferrari with its bright red paint.

Also attached is a photo of a dog. At least I think that is what it is.

What? No four-wheel drive, mud and snow tires and 600 HP? How did they ever get anywhere back in the good old days of oil shooting out of the ground - instead of having to pump water into the ground to get the oil out?

Today a couple of newer sport cars caught my interest. Some sort of Mercedes AMG gull-wing thing and an odd-looking BMW hatchback/station wagon. Photos attached.

It seems like Alice's Restaurant is attracting more sport car drivers than motorcyclists lately.

Followed by a bright yellow Corvette and a bright yellow Lambo.

I hit Alice's Restaurant today to avoid the Easter crowds and possible showers. Here are photos of the some of the cars that were driving around up there. The first are expensive supercars and after they drove off, a couple of old (and no doubt also expensive) Jags showed up. Happy Easter everyone.

I hate to admit it, but I just bought a used 2011 Enfield Bullet from my BMW dealer. I got a very good deal on this clean 1K mile example as they really wanted to get rid of it. Apparently it didn't fit in with the BMW's and Triumphs on the showroom floor.

I put 140 miles on the clock yesterday in about 30% freeway riding and the rest around town or along back roads, getting 70 mpg along the way. The bike is no ball of fire and is it nice to just plunk around, plus it doesn't vibrate too much. It makes an interesting contrast to the other bikes in my collection.

I might add that the owners manual looks a lot like a BMW manual. Lot of warnings and not nearly as much service information as I would like. I think I am going to need a factory service manual. Hopefully, they are printed in English.

The photo of that E-type typifies what went wrong with the British car industry, this is an early 1970's British Leyland V12 model painted in a light shit Austin 1300 colour with over-riders that look like a couple of Samsonite briefcases.
