Being a Sunday morning on a holiday weekend, a few car owners brought up this and that. A Ford GT (perhaps a kit-car?), an old Volvo and a new Lotus. Photos attached.

There was a feller up at Newcombs this morning with a bit of British exotica. Some kit car with a turbo honda engine looking all snakey and such. He managed to get it registered as a street legal kit car. Most of them get in but for track only.
    Rich boy toys.
Oh, the 3 cylinder Saab group showed up too.
Oh, and some fuck stick ran his Porch into the side of the mountain and completely buggered it. We had to wait in the hot sun for 20 some minutes before the guys let traffic go again.
No talent old guys in fast cars...Sheesh.
There otta be a special drivers test for these testosterone-less old buggers to operate their toys.
They seem to have their brains where their enlarge prostate reside.

Today we have photos of two very red cars. One has bug-eyes and the other appears to be an Alfalfa. Better keep it away from cows.

I like that red Supra in front of the 4C too. All in all some cool red hardware.

Won't find a old Super Bee Daytona in your garage, eh? I agree though.... can get cartoonish.

I'm guessing here as I did not see the bug-eye in person but, it looks to me to be a kit-built car from Salem using original fittings. This was a sanctioned set up by Healey at the time. The body would be fiberglass. They also did Healey 100s and Healey 1000s. It was a way to keep the old girls running long after the body work was gone. All were refurbished originals.

You can still see a MG GT running around here. Most are in pretty good shape still. I always had a soft spot for the SAAB 93. Rally fantasy in my youth.

A few weeks ago I posted a photo of an MG-GT. The car was back today and this time the bonnet was open. Check it out.

Also attached are a couple of photos of a nice clean 1974 BMW 3.0CSI.

Triumph GT6 Mark 3. I have no idea what year, but it doesn't look like the sort of car I would want to drive in the rain.

I gotta tell you, these McLarens are selling like hotcakes around here. I keep stumbling over them everywhere I go. I do find the location of the exhaust outlets interesting, though. Although the rest of the car looks kind of plain, especially in refrigerator white.

Went to the Philly Auto Show yesterday. Wish I had Jay Leno money for cars and bikes. Liked the CTS-V...and ATS-V Cadillacs. Lexus IS F-Sports were nice and of course a couple dozen others. This new Fiat is coming, and a cool Porsche Cayman in yellow.

I know, not classics, but perhaps someday....

Rich, I think that is a Landrover Defender 130CC (Rhino) . One tough truck!
landrover finished Defender production last month after having produced a squillion since 1963. Apparently used Defenders prices have already hiked as "inner city types" are seeking them because they are deemed old school cool.

The first Defender rolled off the production line in 1948 so it was built for 67 years.

Here is a clean Alfa Romeo. And a row of 1960's-era British sport cars with their owners wearing traditional British driving garb.

Yesterday I saw an interesting 1962 Morris Minor. I didn't have my camera with me but a friend did. Attached are three photos that he took of the car. The thing had roll bars inside the cabin and there was no way to access the rear seat, so half the car wasn't very usable. But it did look like fun to drive, although the owner said that the ride was pretty harsh on our potholed (and getting worse every day) public roads.

This is a little strange, so bear with me for a moment. I found this video showing how to remove the drive chain sprocket and oil pump gear on a modern Royal Enfield, something that might not interest you unless you are into the mechanical irritation nesessary to perform what should be a simple task. However, the music that accompanies the video is worth listening to. They include a couple of old car driving ballads that I have never heard before and are really cute. So shut your eyes and just listen to the musical stories : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gNK9...yer_detailpage

Today I saw a new Shelby kit car with an old-school big V-8 under the bonnet. A very nice build, especially the engine. Also there was a old white pickup that was literately sitting on the pavement. I guess it was a "low rider". And then there was a daily driver that was getting ready to drive off before the predicted rains arrived. And lastly I took a photo of a young lady wearing an interesting hat.

When I attended the car club party at Sparky's Garage yesterday, there were a number of interesting old cars parked all around the warehouse where the Garage is located. Photos of the ones that interested me are attached. It has been a long time since I have seen an Opel Kadett.

You might find this video of the 2016 Dream Machines show (cars, planes and old odd mechanical stuff), that takes place at the Half Moon Bay, CA, airport every year. My brother, Stu, who is the President of the Mid-Peninsula Muscle Car Club, was interviewed around minute 17:

Its that time of the year again. The Concours at Villa d'Este on Lake Como, the classiest car event in the world, for my money. As I have said before, definitely on my bucket list, maybe next year?
Hang on Guido, I may make it yet!

It seems to me that I may have posted photos of this 1961 Aston-Martin before, but just in case here are more photos, including photos of the engine bay. (Apparently my camera's auto focus was taking a nap when photographing the right side of the engine. )

Not sure this could be classed as a classic, but its certainly an oddity. Gogomobil. German-built with a rear mounted 400cc two stroke twin engine. Spotted in a museum in Hervas, Spain. And yes, that is a caravan its towing!

My brother bought one when I was a kid to use as a buggy to burn around the back yard (we had a 1/2acre block backing onto a swamp).
He took the fibreglass body off and my younger sister used it as a cubby house for years.

Steve, I presume your Goggo was a Dart ,https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goggomobil_Dart ?
There weren't many of the saloon bodied Goggos imported into Oz, but Buckle made and sold quite a few Darts, 59-61.
We used to visit an old GP racer, Jack Day at his property in Warragul in the mid 60's, where he would fire up his fabulous Talbot Darraq race car, and let us thrash his Dart around his hillside farm field. Huge fun. The Dart has become a bit of a cult car in recent years here, following it being featured in a local classic car insurance TV ad campaign.

That's really interesting I hadn't even heard of the make let alone had any idea they'd made it all the way to Aus! That Dart does look a bit more stylish though - like a mini E-Type Jag.

No, Ian, it was actually a 2 door salon body as the Dart wouldn't make much of a cubby house. As the ad said " not the Dart"
We probably wrecked a classic, if that's the case.

For my first interesting post after my temporary unintended banishment, I offer three photos of a very nice 1960's Mustang convertible that I took last Sunday at Alice's Restaurant. You don't see old rag top Mustangs very often.

Looks like a '66 'stang with GT wheels and GT fog lamps in the grill. My high school buddy had a red '66 coupe with a black interior, 3-speed 289, and spinner hubcaps. Later he bought a '65 GT fastback, midnight blue 289 4-speed with the full fog lamp bar, white stripe on the rocker panel, trumpet exhaust through the rear valance, and blue/white Pony interior. He's since had a lot of other nice collector cars but that '65 GT was my favorite.

1962...Bill Mitchell's new rear treatment, presaging the '63 Sting Ray.

Here is a contrast in "race" cars. A new Ariel Atom and a rust-bucket Mercury (check out the license plate).
