I've also been looking into this as well. Right now, I've been talking with the geeks from the Peaks of Otter lodge - which is 12 miles from the Wattstull - about getting a dinner setup for approximately 35-50 of us who plan on attending. Here is what I have so far:

    Choice of:

    • Salad Bar
    • Flat Iron Steak
    • Fried Chicken
    • Salmon
    • Pork Clops

all will include salad (lotsa salad for the salad bar ), side vegetable, beverage, desert (fudge cake or cobbler), all taxes and gratuities. We're talking about $18-28 everything included with a reservation of either 5:00 pm or 5:30 pm. Sunset begins at 6:48 pm and ends at 7:13 pm.

I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts, but I think it looks good!

Dinner looks good to me. I like the choice of meat or fish.
I hate to put the kibosh on it, but what if the weather isn't cooperating?
It may sound stupid since this is all about our rides, but... would it be prudent to consider group transport for the big meal?
    Just throwing that out there.

    Rob.
The menu sounds good to me.

    Speaking only for myself:
...I ain't riding no frickin' bus to a Motorcylce Club dinner!

If it rains, it just means I'm gonna get the chair wet when I sit down .

OK- that's out of my system now. Swagger mode OFF.

Can't say I didn't expect the possibility of a macho beat-down, but I was thinking beyond weather conditions to be honest.
Our family has a rule....one or more drinks and you hand the keys to someone else.
    I'll drink water.

Dan - It was meant to be funny ("Swagger mode"), but when I'm wrong I usually do it big. Apologies if it offended instead of tickled.

Your point is completely valid -and wise-. Since I don't usually need alcohol to embarrass myself, I didn't consider that situation. The bus would permit a different (more relaxed?) kind of get-together with a bit more comfortable attire.

Regards...your first drink is on me...(Evian?)

No offense taken, but thanks for the reply.
    Yes...just wanted to consider possibilities.
    I guess it's a habit I have - planning ahead.
    Btw...any filtered water will do.
    I'll just raise my pinky.

If it looks good to you, then book it. Prices don't bother me and the selection sounds good. I think anywhere that will take in 35 - 50 folks at once is worth a shot.

We'll skip the $4 beers at the restaurant and throw an afterparty at the hotel (since we rented the whole place anyways). Then for the same initial investment we can get 4x more sloshed .

    I'm only kidding... ...sort of.

    Cheers!

Dinner sounds like a plan (no burgers?), any feedback from the 'resident' expert - regarding potentials for weather that time of year, possible other alternate sites perhaps within walking distance, and/or a local establishment for an after dinner soiree (for the pinky/Evian set) - barkeep I'll have another Barqs TYVM
Any place that would put up with a group that size is a plus - stopped in the Peaks parking lot for a stretch break a couple of years ago - view is PRIMO!

When you look at the pics on the motel's site, one of them shows a restaurant out front. Of course it doesn't mean that it is open, but it might be a possiblity for breakfast. Also, the motel is only 2 miles from town, which has places to eat. We shouldn't starve or go thirsty.

Is the meal price the same if you don't eat any meat?

Nope - there will be a 'salad bar' meal that's available and will cost less.
