    I always wondered what my RS handlebars looked like under the factory-installed GPS mount. So I paid my dealer $70 to remove it. Attached is a photo of what your bike could look like with that ugly thing removed.

    Shoulda had a before and aftrer for better comparison. Looks like a bit of bridge structure now. Serious hardware!

    Here you go. Check around 45 s or so in and you can see it. I agree that it is an odd position and looks like it might interfere with sightline to the gauges.

    You payed the dealer $ 70 to loosen 4 bolts? You must be kidding....
    For my GT fitting the BMW GPS mount was for free (part of the deal) and removal was a piece of cake, doing it myself....

    My problem was trying to find where the GPS wire connected within the chassis. I removed as much of the plastic fairing as I could, but just couldn't find where the GPS wire connected to the bike's wiring loom. So I gave up, reinstalled the plastic and had my dealer do the work while I was getting the speed-shifter update performed.
