I bet you never saw one of these before. In 1998, the previous owner of Alice's Restaurant, located in the Santa Cruz Mountains south of San Francisco, leased a small building next to the restaurant for a month to a fellow who was trying to sell some Bimota motorcycles. One of them was powered by a 1997 650cc single that powered BMW's 1997 Funduro motorcycle. Since I owned one at the time, I had to take some photos of this unusual combination. Note the somewhat optimistic redline on the tachometer. I sure wouldn't have wanted to spin that engine that high. That would really have given it an "Italian tuneup"! I might add that I discovered these photos in an album that I was cleaning out and decided to try out my photo scanner for the first time so that I could post them here. And what do you know? It actually worked.
