I just posted this in the Hall of Wisdom, but I thought I would duplicate it here, too:

Here is a link to a useful article regarding how to clean and care for both your helmet and your face shield:

Good advice, except when applying stickers they must be designed for helmet use. If it is Polycarbonate the wrong stickers (as well as wiping with petrol or painting it) can make the helmet brittle. I've sadly had to investigate fatalities where the helmet has shattered, although modern helmets aren't so easily affected by poor maintenance.

Great advice. I'm not sure though about the RainX warning. I know that even the RainX company has said not to use their glass product on plastic visors, but I've never encountered a problem. And I always maintain a good coat on my visor. It really helps in rain.

RainX now has a product specifically designed for clear plastic windshields. And then there are people, like a friend of mine, who swear that using Pledge furniture polish is the way to go.

I travel with a small pack of baby wipes. No harsh chemicals, clears the bugs straight off the visor and helmet and easy to carry.
    Concrete remains undefeated.
