maybe you can do a try posting only one picture at once. sometimes the system doesn't accept more that one picture. I think it depends on the size of the files.

another try that you could do is to click on the button "go advanced" and use the button with the clip for the attachments to open the proper tool in a new page then upload there the images.

Like this. I used Guido's instructions. I downloaded Clay's photo on to my computer files and then uploaded it from my files using the forum's system. The little paperclip finds everything in your computer file - as long as you can.

clay, I've just checked your account and seems to have the right settings.
you could also try to refresh the cache of your browser and log in again, this usually solves a lot of problems.

Thanks..tried clearing out the cashe of (2) different browsers and rebooted..no luck. Tried two other iPhones and another iPad..getting same error.

Currently using ver. IOS 13.1.2 in all my Apple products

It’s the latest version of the iOS, the same that I have on my iPhone, it works fine with the forum engine. I don’t think that the problem is on the iOS.
New Mac computers run the macOS Catalina, mine is quite old so it has the High Sierra and doesn’t accept further upgrade. Anyway, also the various versions of macOS work well with the forum system.
If there is a problem it’s in your account. Sometimes it happens. As I said, wait for the intervention of the tech staff. Meanwhile if you need to post some pictures contact me or one of the moderators by PM and we will post the pictures for you.

I've taken a look at your permissions and I can't find anything to explain your error yet.

Is this occurring when uploading to a specific section or does it happen regardless of location?

Can you tell me the file size and dimensions of an example image that gives you this error?

And do you use any form of adblocker with your browser?

Kevin, it looks like it is specific to him. Whether that is the account settings, or a browser, or ad blocker. There's a link to the picture in post #9, and Richard posted it in Post #10.

So I wonder if he installed something or changed something on his end, if his account settings are correct.

I've also checked his account settings and are ok, if he uses mobile devices probably they display the mobile version of the site, maybe he could try if changing the display mode of the site it works, anyway, as I said, Safari on iOS and macOS works fine with the forum engine, in both display modes. so I think that the problem could be in his account rather than in his browser settings.

I've never done something like that, I don't even know if is possible. please, try, as I said answering to the other admins, to change the display mode of the site. if it doesn't work I suppose that we should open a ticket for the tech staff.

Is there a max size limitations? Tried small..no luck.. Though my pictures are coming from my photo library it appears they are being retrieved from my iCloud account...

Clay, Richard downloaded your picture from you link above and posted it. There's no issue with the size of the picture.

One way to help isolate what is happening is if you, Clay, were to use a different computer. A friends...a neighbors...the library's. Anything but the computer you've been using. The problem isn't the picture. The problem doesn't seem to be your account. So to narrow it down, let's eliminate your computer.

another try could be to download the picture from iCloud so you have the file physically into your device. but I use the iCloud account too and I've never had the necessity to download the pictures, I just choose them from the Photo library, the files stored in iCloud are shown by the forum system and can be used as well as the pictures physically stored in the iPhone. anyway you should also go the the Safari preferences, then to Advanced, to Experimental Features settings and check if these preferences are set in this way (line by line):

Don’t see those “settings “ ..just a list of toggle settings.. Will try to fire up a Windows computer and see if there is a difference..

this is a list of toggle settings, "on" is when the toggle is green and "off" is when is obscured.
opening the settings of the iOS scroll down until you see "Safari", go to Safari settings and at the bottom of the list you will find the voice "Advanced", go there and scroll down to the bottom of the Advanced settings and you will find the voice "Experimental Features" and there you will find a list of 37 toggle switches, follow the instruction that I've given to be sure that all the settings are the same of my iPhone. my browser works well.

I have no problem attaching as many photos of any size that I want using the "Go Advanced" feature and the paperclip icon. But they are picked up directly from my computer files. I have an old Dell Optiplex 390 desktop running Windows 7 Ultimate. None of that fancy cloud stuff for me.

The previous post was sent from the MacBook Air (macOS High Sierra 10.13.6) using the “Go Advanced” editor. This post from the iPhone (iOS 13.1,3). Always using Safari (the Apple browser).
From the iPhone I can attach only one picture at once, from the Mac, obviously, using the Advanced editor and paper clip button I can attach as many files I want.

could you try yo find out if these other fora use the vBulletin® Version 4.2.3 as forum engine, please. probably at the bottom of the main page (or in any page... depends) you will find the writing "Powered by...".


but I have a doubt. I see that you have never posted a picture... maybe you make some mistake in the procedure to post the attachments, actually is a bit... tricky. if you are not sure you are following the right procedure, send me a PM, so I immediately receive a notification and we see together if you are making some mistake. remember that I live in Sicily so my local time is +6h from Florida, but I go to sleep quite late in the night, so...

It doesn't seem like you've done this. Here's why it is important. There are five things I see that can be causing this. The picture. The account. The forum software. The user. The computer.

• The picture. We know your picture file isn't an issue. It loads just fine when others have tried it, even in this thread.
• The account. It's been looked at by Guido and HalfPint. But I still wouldn't rule it out totally.
• The forum software. This is doubtful. The forum is working fine for others, even to posting within this thread. The problem is specific to your ability to load pictures.
• The user. Who knows? It may be something you're doing and Guido has offered to guide you through it step by step. (That's dedication!...especially from a non-paid volunteer.) I know you've loaded pictures on other forums, but every forum is different.
• The computer. Even if you can load pictures on other forums, it doesn't rule out a problem with the settings on your computer browser for this forum website. For instance, I have ad blocking software installed on my Opera browser. It has a VPN setting. I have just about everything turned off that can be done to keep my privacy. And it sometimes doesn't work on certain websites. I then go to another browser to see that website. So my thought is to simply log into your account on an entirely different computer. All you need is the URL and your password...a simple thing to do.

If you can load pictures from another computer, then the problem is with something on your computer. We need to eliminate this, and there's only one way to do it.

Like I mentioned in an earlier response.. I tried on two different iPhones and two two different iPads..same error. Tried on different browsers..same error. Tried with cellular carrier and WiFi ..same error. And as I have mentioned previously I’ve tried other forums with vbulletin versions which I can attach pictures which have the same procedures to make attachments...

FYI..I was able to upload and attach a current photo(not in My Library)..

Thanks. We sent a PM to HalfPint earlier. I suggest you send one yourself to HalfPint outlining the problem and what you've tried. I don't see HalfPint responding here, other than post #16. Maybe in your PM to HalfPint, you could quote what Kevin wrote and answer those specific questions. If you'd like, you can add myself and Guido to the list of addressees. At this point, I don't think we can help you, but having all the communications between you and HalfPint might help later.

HalfPint is a group of administrators that are actually paid staff. They don't seem to be able to program, but can handle a lot of things. Kevin looked at your account earlier, but he is only one of several in that group. Guido and myself are supposedly "Administrators", but from what I've been able to do on other forums, I'd consider myself just a step above a Moderator, and not a big step at that. And like the other moderators here, we are not paid...which also means our ability to do things is limited too.

It’s right. Me and Chris have some limitations, but we can do a lot of things for the users an the forum, more than the moderators. Unfortunately neither HalfPint can solve some problems, only the tech staff can do it. The paid staff works on an incredible numbers of fora that belong to VerticalScope and they need a bit of time to respond to all the assistance requests.
As Chris said, send a message to HalfPint. I suppose that the intervention of the tech staff is necessary.
I use an iPhone and a MacBook Air and there are not any problema with them, I don’t think that the problem is in your devices because it would be strange that in two different iPhones you have the same problems.

I suggest you send one yourself to HalfPint outlining the problem and what you've tried.

This would help us narrow down what issue you may be having. We also sometimes respond faster to PMs that here. From a usergroup permission, or user permission, there is nothing unique in your profile which indicates that you uniquely would be unable to share images.
The one last thought I could have is, when you're attempting to attach the image are you selecting the picture icon or attachment icon in the "Advanced Options" in a thread. This may change what results you're seeing.

Was able to attach a picture(not from my library) using the paper clip selection on my iPhone..but still getting file error while trying to attach from My Library..

it happens because you probably try to attach some pictures that weren't taken with the iPhone, if you use the iCloud Photo Library to save the pictures only the ones taken with the iPhone are physically stored in the device. if so maybe the system can't find the real file but only a sort of link that doesn't match with the file types allowed. look the preferences of Photo to find out and select the way to save the pictures according to your needs.

check the settings of Photo, you can choose to save the pictures only on iCloud or keep also a copy of the file in your device, obviously select the second choice and, when you can, try again to post a picture.

This is not seamless as I’ve have no issues with other forums with vBulletin.. the problem is not with my procedures of attaching files .. With attempts with 4 different apple products it still produces same invalid files...

I use and always have used Apple products and I’d never had problems with this forum. HalfPint asked you to tell him/them all the tries you have done, do it so HalfPint can warn the tech staff about your problems. I suppose that it’s the only way to solve that issue.
