2020 Polaris Sliingshot

I wonder how a Slingshot would compare with a Polaris for the experience. Which would I feel comfortable taking on a group motorcycle ride?

I went to look at them when they first came out. Was sorely unimpressed. First off, it is a massive road hogging design. Secondly, the whole thing screams cheap plastic with way to many sharp points and odd angles that only an adolescent Batman groupie would find appealing. Thirdly, the finish is early model Ski-Doo. Fourthly, did I mention it is massive, I mean really massive.

There are better designs out there if one is looking for three wheel designs.

I'm not thrilled yet with the idea of a Can-Am. I'd probably just give up riding if I had to do it on a three-wheeler. Maybe not though...you really can't say for certain till you are at that point.

At the same time, with one of the groups I ride with, one of the wives rides a Can-Am. She seems like she fits right in with the rest of us riding on two-wheels. Her "bike", while large, doesn't seem out of place.

With a Slingshot, I think of it like a go-cart. To me, it would be more at place at a Mazda Miata rally than a motorcycle rally. It's a car, missing a rear wheel. It has no pretensions of being anything more than a convertible car that goes very fast.

And when I think of the two three-wheelers, my mind makes some different judgements. With the Can-Am, I think "motorcycle" and accept the risks inherent in riding a motorcycle. You can get seriously hurt on a "motorcycle". With the Slingshot, I think "car" and my immediate thought is that it would be better to buy a convertible car and have something around me for protection if...no, when...I get into an accident. Because the Slingshot has a lot of horsepower with no weight. No weight means, no protection. Yet, I'm sitting in a ...car. Or, at a minimum, a three-wheeled go-cart.

And the alternatives to me go to a Mazda Miata...same price range. Or go older to a Triumph Spitfire. They don't handle nearly as well, but you can have a blast with one of them.

Daboo, I've done the 3 wheel thing with a BMW and Ural sidecar. It's not for everyone.
One of the guys on the VStom site has a 3 wheeler his wife operates. Is 3 or 4 wheels riding or driving?
They are big and what happened to 100 or so hp. Gotta have 203hp to get from here to there?
If a CanAm is a motorcycle is a Morgan?
