A motorcycle helmet is the most important piece of riding gear that every rider should wear even if it is not required by law. Helmets save lives, which is clearly shown by statistics. It is designed to protect the rider’s head in case of a crash by absorbing the energy of impact and prevent penetration. First helmets were invented over a century ago, before World War I when motorcycles became more powerful and riding became unsafe. The early prototypes were made of thick leather, which was good enough until a certain point.

One of the leading British neurosurgeons came up with an idea of a hard shell helmet preventing penetration on impact to reduce the number of severe head traumas among riders.
