    Hi from Kent , UK.
BMW call it tyre options, but really it is a lottery.
What is it like elsewhere in the world ?
My bike got Continental sport attack tyres
as did the dealer demo, so I couldn't complain.
Latest bikes, getting the dreaded rev limiter 'patch',
have Metzeler racetek K3 or Interact K3.
Options list from BMW also includes Bridgestone BT016 and 015,
and Michelin Pilot Road 2 .
Customers are told that whatever their ordered bike comes with,
that's the tyre they have to use.
So is that really an option ?

Mine came with Continetal Attack's and I had no option to change, think I will go to the Metzeler Racetek's after these wear out.
    Its here,and its real!

Mine was the first 2011 the dealer had, it came with K3's. The next 3 bikes that came in had Attack's. I used to work for a car manufacturer, and I can tell you that the guys and gals in the tire shop are feeding the line whatever logistics gives them. Sometimes the Engineers dictate this, but most times, it's the Accountants. You should be fine with any tire of the correct size. Having said that...I have read of people having problems with Dunlop Q2's. Seems the diameter is different on these tires than on other brands of the same size, and it sets off the TCS light and disables TCS. I like the K3's, not getting much mileage out of it, and it is the hardest of the Racetek compounds(K1 and K2 being softer), but traction is awesome!

My bike (new in May 2010) came with the Conti Attacks. I like them a lot more than what I got now which is the Power Pilot. I feel as if the Conti's gave me more grip...

Don't dismiss the Sport Attacks until you try them, they're a very grippy, long lasting tire. My only complaint is they may be a bit more vague than some of the other top tier road rubber.

Just went to a set of Dunlop Q2's. My Metzeler's still had some life in them, but not enough for my VIR trip next week. I've only rode it from the dealer, but it seems like the Dunlops have more gyroscopic effect to overcome than the Metz's. they just feel heavier. I'm going to scrub them in a bit today and see what they really feel like.

My '11 came with Conti Attacks, then a demo '12 I had had the updated Attacks but the '12 I now have came with Raceteks.

Speaking of which...has anyone done a track day on the OE Raceteks?
OE's can differ from consumer Raceteks and I was wondering how they performed as I have a track day scheduled in the spring.
