Is it finally BMW's time? Lap records in both SBK and superstock!!!!!

Corser just won superpole by a half second...and set the track lap record in the process.

Troy Corser (BMW Motorrad Motorsport) posted a brilliant 1 minute 35.001 seconds to take the new track best lap and BMW's first ever Superpole win. In doing so he extended his own record of pole wins in WSBK racing to 43 and he did it in some style, finishing half a second clear of his nearest rival. Second on the grid for Sunday's races will be championship leader Max Biaggi (Aprilia Alitalia) who was surprised and delighted to be so far forward at a circuit like Misano. Third went to Michel Fabrizio (Ducati Xerox) and fourth to the charging Cal Crutchlow (Yamaha Sterilgarda). BMW, Aprilia, Ducati and Yamaha machines share the front row places, after the usual close competition for grid places in a class with seven competing manufacturers.
Meanwhile in world superstock.....oh look, another track recored for BMW.

A new track best of 1'39.190 put Ayrton Badovini (BMW Motorrad Italia STK) firmly into pole position in Superstock 1000 making this his fourth pole start of the current campaign.

Sounds like corser lead most of the race and got passed near the end and took 3rd. Oh well, a podium is a podium!!!

meanwhile...did xuas crash AGAIN?! That's it, he's gone. Let's take Badovini from superstock (he's 5 wins in 5 races) and see what he can do on the WSBK bike.

the idea is to bring in Marco Melandri from MotoGP to develop the bike for a year in preparation for BMW's 2012 entry into MotoGP (where Melandri would head up the MotoGP squad, hence only spending a year away from the premier class), but after abysmal performances in the last two races, they may be scrapping that idea...

Badovini is certain to gain a factory ride, but I'm sure they won't pull him mid-season; the Superstock championship still counts for something and they'll surely want to lock that one up.

Oh for sure. Wonder if he can be the first ever to sweep the entire season? That would rock.

Badovini actually raced for in WSBK a few years ago.......for kawasaki (Well there's your problem right there....). He sucked, got rocked.

Doesn't seem to be the case any more, i'd love to see what he can do on a WSBK bike.

cracked oil hose, nothing more. Xaus got hit twice by other riders in Race 2 and is injured. Corser dropped from 5th to 10th on the last lap of Race 2 - he hit a false neutral and went into the gravel, but managed to recover.

I've got the race recorded and am looking forward to watching later this week. Sounds like Xaus is having some bad luck with getting hit by other riders all the time.
Formerly on a Lahar Grey F800S, then after 47,000 happy miles it was traded in for a new Midnight Black F800ST, which was more or less converted back to an S. And now I'm on a brand new R1200RS, which is rather awesome! I'll still stick around if you'll have me, though, as my wife is now on the F800...
