Skid... you should go for it with the Centre being built right next to you.

Although I received most of kayak training and certifications here in the states, I have gone across the pond a few times to receive some training in Wales. There is some real bad ass water there, but it does sharpen your skills. One good thing about the training in the UK was the fact that everybody would always have a few pints at the end of the day. Well sometimes more than a few.

My exact thought too and not only that you get to give the course a dry run way before any Olympiads set foot there

Wales was were I took most of my heavy training, well Herefordshire/Wales as was meandered across the boarder up and down the same stretch of water.

The most local Canoeing Club charges £75 per year or £45 for just six months if you're a fair weather boatman. For this fee you get the free use of the clubs Canoes, wet suit and float vest..................why am I even "thinking" about it???

Well what with being a husband and father that work 5 days a week that's also an avid motorcyclist spending what time I can out with mates riding I don't think my family will like it........................unless I get them involved in Canoeing and this is my intention

Dude, I've been seeing the signs up as well, and am also keen to give it a bash. I used to be a keen paddle-skier, and have done a little white water canoeing back in SA.
Formerly on a Lahar Grey F800S, then after 47,000 happy miles it was traded in for a new Midnight Black F800ST, which was more or less converted back to an S. And now I'm on a brand new R1200RS, which is rather awesome! I'll still stick around if you'll have me, though, as my wife is now on the F800...

Hi, I'm a Nurse Anesthetist by day ( when i'm not on call) and landscaper/sun worshipper when I'm home. The northeast just doesn't get enough sun. It's really nice to hear from everyone and learn about all the different professions that comprise the F800 community.

Jeeez...I'm a little more blue-collar than most. I'm an operations manager for a garbage company.
I had been a fire fighter for 18 years, but the stress that went along with it had taken it's toll on me. I have to admire those that make a life long commitment to fire/rescue/police/emergency room care personnel. When I turned in my pager I felt like a sack of bricks had been removed from the back of my neck. You guys rock....

    Nice change of pace here....

I'm an Oil & Gas Consultant. Mostly oilsands construction projects and environmental remediation/reclamation work. Build the new sites in the winter and out the old ones to bed in the summer. Keeps the karma in check with mother nature

Married 8 years and am one of the lucky ones in my business whose wife doesn't mind my working abroad. (And riding when I'm home) Wife has no interest in riding and I have no interest in making my wife do anything she doesn't want to. Tried it with the grey hair to prove it was a futile endeavor.

Great to see the varied cross-section of folks here.

I'm an aircraft engineer by trade....

For those in the states I hold the European equivalent of the A&P licences for both light and large aircraft. These days I'm working on the tiddlers (narrow body aircraft, mostly Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 series machines)

Where I'm working I have a small fleet of 11 aircraft to keep flying safely, with a team of mechanics. All good fun!

Wow Respect! Anyone who dedicates themselves like that has -got- to be cool.
I'm a contractor, which means I don't really get any holiday, but my shift allows me to get home for a few days every couple of weeks.

I was an IT Manager for the Dept of Defence running a 350 pc network for level 1,2,4 fibre optics and passports. Then 2 years ago I was outsourced after 24 yrs government service including the army, the federal police bomb squad before IT. It was at the height of the GFC so decided to go back to shool where I'm almost finished an advance diploma in Accounting.. we will always have taxes.. so I thought it was a good idea at the time. It is my desire to become an accountant with a sense of humour... LOL

    Hi all
I am self employed for 14 years, I have a lovely little painting company and a great team that work with me. Just Ask Judy "Painting" Specializing in custom Interior painting and I love it just love it. I spend my working days inside beautiful homes or making dreams come true by making an old space into a new look, I also take on exterior but the weather can be abit tricky so Interior wins out. The people I meet are wonderful the colors bold and daring to calm. I live in a four season resort style community. I'm riding my F800st whenever I choose unless theres a designer who has a deadline - work pays for the fuel .. I have two great kids (not so little) a 7 1/2 yr old grandaughter ( she rides already am I proud or what) , and another one on the way. The winters are cold and long so instead of becoming all boo hoo about it, I snowboard with all my nieces, nephews and cousins so time flys here in The Blue Mountains.
