Good post Mystic, we should catch up for a ride somewhere mid country in summer at some stage, love to hear more, I havnt done chi kung but have done Tai Chi, Yoga, meditation and after having had acupunture was most impressed by the abilities of the eastern medicines, philosophies etc.

I did wonder where 'mystic' came from and was going to ask at some stage, makes more sense now.

I noticed there seem to be quite a few of us here that work in IT. Yes, me too. Test, evaluation, QA whatever they like to call it this week. Not so sure I really like it that much, but it pays the mortgage, feeds and clothes the kids and gives me enough left over to tinker about with a few motorbikes.

And I get to ride sixty miles a day getting there and back. That's probably the most enjoyable part.

Its also why you won't see much of me on here during the week. Access to external forums is not allowed from work and by the time I get home, I've had more than enough of sitting in front of a screen.........

I'm a junior doctor training to be a psychiatrist in London. Got into motorbikes about a year ago after getting mugged and figuring I'd rather take my own chances on the road than continue with public transport. I'm definately a happier person since getting onto 2 wheels!

Oh yes, they are quiet. Lots more wind buffet noise under a chopper's rotors and inside a jet doing 4-500 knots. Built in ear cups for the earphones is the solution to that. The kevlar shell makes them light and strong so if you ran testing they would probably pass the applicable safety requirements.
The cost of one of these on the street would be big though. Kevlar shell and the liner is a poured custom fit that would drive up the cost. And the oxygen mask would have to be replaced with something else.
But I like the idea.

As for looks, you be the judge. And they even come in grey.

Keep the air hose and just connect it to an air conditioner. Imagine riding with A/C pipes right to your helmet and Jacket. Now I'm really dreaming.

I'm a Charge Nurse (thats like a Sister!!!) in an Emergency Dept (thats an ER or A&E) in hampshire. Have an interest in Major Incidents and CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological & Nuclear) incidents - i lecture on these around the country. I also really like a good trauma & bikers give me plenty of that. I'm amazed that I still ride with the amount of injuried or killed bikers I've seen, but you got to go some way and it may as well be doing something you love.

Would love to do something better paid - like all you IT guys - but would miss the buzz of what I do. Also you get loads of stories, most of which put people off food.

Recently retired from 30+ years as a government official/civil servant. Spent time during that period living abroad in several countries, including, USSR during detente (Nixon, Brezhnev etc)! Work as a consultant on and off providing advice to public sector agencies on any and everything. Mostly go biking.

Needed something challenging to go with retirement, so went out and learnt how to ride a motorbike. This was just over two years ago. Learnt on a Suzuki GS500. Then upgraded for a while to the VFR. Just as well, as my then 17 yr old step daughter wrote off the GS500 (no damage to her). Took delivery of the F800 in January this year and have done in excess of 20,000 kms across four states/territories. Making up for lost time.

I am even beginning to believe that time doesn't exist. I have seen this mentioned a few times in various writings and if its true it means that past lives and future lives do not exist and they are all in fact now. I have tended to disbelieve past lives as a misunderstanding of the experience. I have no way of knowing what is true here at this time.

I wonder if what people refer to as past life experiences are in fact cellular experiences within themselves and from others around them. To me this would mean that the experiences of their ancestors are carried within them and of course this would mean that if they were well tuned they would experience this in others.

I look back over recent years and realise my reality and truths have continued to change so much that I now struggle with what is real and what is not. Maybe none of that matters anymore.

As for mentors. All of my mentors are currently living. But if you really want to know the truth, it is contained in the book of knowledge within each of us. Once you can start tapping into this you don't need to look outside. (Once again a common comment from wise men through time.)

An interesting read is the biography on the founder of Aikido. It is said that he would meditate daily in the snow and snow would always melt in the spot that he meditated in. It is clear from what is written that he reached ascension. What I learnt from him is that the energy can be contained and harnessed and that you can hold the spiritual life and the modern human life together at the same time.

I guess I am lucky in that there is enough written to have an understanding of "what is", and "what is to come".

Sorry for the late reply I've been away in a much colder and snowy climate for the past 7 weeks. The yellow helmet is nice and quiet but gets a bit uncomfortable when you strap night vision goggles to it (be fun to ride the back roads using them though). It's yellow so the guys in the helicopter can see me if i get dropped on the mountainside.

I am an Apple specialist (15 years) and run my own business (recently started it officially after doing on and off for years) supporting Mac users (as well as Windows users). I also work part-time for a marketing company here in Bristol (UK) as their IT Systems Consultant.

Other areas that I specialise in are relational database developement (mostly using FileMaker), network installations (wired and wireless) and web development.

Been married five years this month and have two boys, one of which starts school in September. I've lived in various parts of England and Wales but have settled in Bristol (... for the moment!). I started riding two years ago on a Suzuki VanVan 125 with a provisional licence. Last August I took the Direct Access route to obtaining my full licence (after the VanVan was stolen and the insurance company coughed up more than I paid for it!). I ride practically every day, clocking up around 10k miles in the past year.

On a side note, I will be collecting my new F 800 ST tomorrow morning.

Unfortunately I've read neither. Too much to read and not enough time. There was a Russian guy based in France who died a few years back who I enjoyed reading. Just can't spell his name well enough to find him again. If I do I'll pop you an email. But his works are in French and have been translated in the last few decades. He stayed for a short time in Germany on his way to France. I believe he was based in Paris and today there is a group set up that have transcribed his words into books and translated those.

But his writings indicate he reached ascension and he talks of things you don't see written much.

Sounds like you've spent a bit of time with philosophical works.

Konecranes is based out of Finland and is owned by Konecranes Holdings. (The financial arm or the corp.) Actually, there are quite a few companies that are owned by Kone. I finally tracked down this old thread. I've been reading this forum for 18mths and been participating for a lot less.

So here goes, I'm in the electrical distribution industry, have been for 29yrs now.
Started as an apprentice elect fitter/ mechanic and later on got my linesman's ticket as well.
I've spun my hat around a few times in the industry from fitter/mech, inspector, linesman, Transmission linesman and live linesman. Age and old sport injuries were catching up to me and a MLC occurred. I met a wonderful woman with a positive outlook on life and haven't looked back since. With the new wife came a change in direction, same employer, but a different position.
They give me the title of Assessment Officer. My roles are co-ordinating the commissioning of new residential and industrial sub-divisions, where the electrical reticulation has been constructed by contractors, auditing the contractors work to ensure it is to the required statutory and industry standards and issuing non-conformances where they don't, and signing off on the acceptance of the new work on behalf of the company. In all I've only been threatened with one law suit in the past 3 yrs doing this job, must be doing something right.

At the same time as I got the new wife and the new job the wife talked me into getting my bike licence. After a CB250 and a couple of GS500F Suzis (1 each) and lots of viewing on this forum we got our nice Graphitan Grey F800ST on 26/02/07. YeeHaa, after 12 mths and 13000kms we haven't loked back (no. not a reference to the mirrors).

I work in the printing industry. I am a desktop publisher, designer/laying out packaging products (bags, corrugates, labels), napkins and catalogs. Been in the field for 6 years. I love it, consistently changing and learning new things. I love being outdoors and traveling on my motorcycle. I also like hunting, gardening, camping, shooting, and four wheeling. Living in Wisconsin you would think I would have more winter hobbies!
