I am a Clinical Social Worker in an adult Intensive Care Unit. Been doing this for 12 years and also was in Private Practice as a psychotherapist. I am "retired" from being in private practice. Was practicing as soon as I graduated grad school until about 2 years ago.

Basically what I do in the ICU is a lot of crisis intervention, grief and bereavement counseling and good old family support. My ICU deals with mainly multi-system/organ failure and we do have a sort of high mortality rate. Because of our location in the city we admit many downtown east side residents...also known as the SKIDS, many admissions are drug related illnesses. One of my many jobs is often to ID patients who come in as unknowns, locate next of kin (sort of a detective ) and try to be a liaison between the medical team and family/friends of our patients. More to the job but I hope you get the idea.

My partner is a RCMP Constable...aka Police Officer and she decided to become a cop at the ripe old age of 36. She has been a cop now for 3 1/2 years.

We LOVE to ride to decompress from the day which is also why we commute everyday as long as there is no snow or black ice....our climate usually allows for many months of riding...we are fortunate! we own 2 2010 BMW F650GS bikes and think after owning 7 other models we have found the right bike for us....I got mine March 5th 2010 and have 29000 KM on it all ready! Riding is just a great way to enjoy life!

Dogs are certainly a person’s best friend. They give unconditional love to their owners and because of this owners have responsibility for their dogs. If you are planning to buy puppies or a dog, consider buying at legal pet shops only.

    Lots of cool jobs here.

Been looking for a cool job all my life.

Spent 9 years in the Marines, last 5 of which were as a COBOL Programmer (anybody remember COBOL)

Got bored with the Marines and left to do Programming, Systems Analysis and Mainframe Systems Project Management for about 9 years.

Got bored with that and decided to go to Law School. Spent about 10 years practicing law and along came the Y2K bug.

Since I was getting bored with the Law (not really bored with the law, actually fascinating stuff but clients are just a real pain in the ass) and they were just throwing so much money at Y2K Mainframe Systems people I could not resist. All that ceased during the first 6 months of year 2000 so I had to move on to something else.

Went to work for the Houston Police Department and ended up as Manager of Payroll. Last year they consolidated City of Houston Payroll so I am now the Manager of the Police Department and the Fire Department payroll process for the City of Houston (nothing like being on the Public Dole). I make sure the 12,000 employees (6000 Police Officers, 4000 Firemen and 2000 Municipal employees) of these two Departments get their check each week.

Been with the City close to 10 years. Time to start looking around for something else.
When you look like a rude, crude, scum sucking cretin, people tend not to ask you stupid questions.

This is my other "Parallel Twin" Boeing 777.

Have been flying for 24 years endorsed on B757,B767,B777 as well as Airbus 319,320,321 but only current on the triple 7 at the moment. Prior to the airlines I was an aerobatics instructor and did Air Ambulance and Corporate work. Bought my first motorcycle in flying school because it was the only transportation I could afford. Lost the passion for flying somewhat over the years ( turning a hobby into a career, kills the hobby ) but never lost it for the motorcycle.

I am retired from the Canadain National Railway, after 36 years I decided to take my leave and start riding and collecting bikes. In 1972 I was looking for work and digging graves and cutting grass at the local bone yard for $1.50 per hour was not going to keep in motorcycles. At 18 I started pounding spikes on the track at Graham Ontario, near Thunder Bay and worked my way up the ranks to Manager of Real Estate and Business Development for North Western Ontario, Northern Minnesota, Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Now I do not give a shit about that life style, got no dress clothes, no hair cut and no schedule.....

I listen music, read and write about it, in one word I'm a musicologist. I study mainly contemporary music (the one that people call "experimental", but this is wrong because if it is an experiment it isn't music, the contemporary music is only difficult to listen). my interest led me to get lost in the silence, especially that of nono's "prometeo"... I'm still writing about that. it's a job that leave me much time to spend with my dogs and ride the bike. I work mainly at home, during the night. I don't earn much, just enough to live decently, but it's a nice job.
I started riding the bike when I was 5 years old, now I'm 46.

I always like music, but now i don't enjoy live concert as i do in the past: it happens very often that the musicians do not interpret the music as I suppose to be interpreted, I can't avoid to notice something wrong, the mistakes that are always present in every execution. every time I go to the theatre I find a seat near the door so I can go away easily: very often I don't want to listen all the concert, but just one or two pieces, and there're always people that ask me about my opinion of the concert and I hate this kind of questions. now I go only to the the concert that I think are very interesting, some years ago I used to go and enjoy to lots of concert, I lost that, but now I listen music in another way, it's a conscious listening, more exciting and satisfying.
I would like that people go to listen contemporary music, but people find it difficult, I know that contemporary music may sound "strange", but if you try to forget all your listening habits it became easy and you could enjoy even a strange sound.

in italy we say: "fai buon viso a cattivo gioco". it means "smile at bad luck", so you need teeth just for a nice, sunny smile.

I work in an Emergency dept. @ the bottom of the Great Alpine Road in Victoria, often patching up middle aged blokes who've fallen off their (mid life crisis) bikes! The ones who arrive alive that is...
So, take care y'all... & know your limitations!

I am a bilingual warranty adjuster for a car manufacturer. I've been working in the auto industry for over 10 years now in differnet fields:
Warranty, Distribution, Customer Service, Remarketing, Auction, Finance, Mechanic, etc...

I like cars, and of course, my little gurl F8th!

I have decided to change directions in my life, personally-professionally- spiritually.
Two months ago I woke up(one morning)
and decided I had been on a Great Ride.
    45 years- over 350,000 miles-a dozen bikes.
I was still alive, all limbs and organs relatively
    intact and had no debt.
Soooo,I sold all my motorcycles ,gear,
    stickers and t shirts
It has been a Great Ride.Thank you for all the
memories. And Thank you F800 forum people.

That is one hell of a decision. Was it 45 years of life or 45 years of motorcycling? Was there a spur to this or was it 'what alcoholics refer to as a moment of clarity' (Pulp Fiction)?

Whatever, I'm truly sorry to see you go.

Phil, I hope you had a great birthday. I shall be turning 60 at the end of the month having returned to the fold 4 years ago. So far so good from the accident perspective but I don't push my luck.

it looks to me as a sad intent, but everyone must do what he feels to do... so, good luck, frank!
